Biography
ANKST formed in the second half of 2006 by original members Raymond Ross (Vocals), Aiden Botha (Guitar) and Dylan Van Collar (Keyboard) and later joined by Noel Hall (Bass).

After writing material that was soon to become the “We Become Gods” EP, ANKST took to touring South Africa extensively. The band soon gained popularity amongst the Goth, Alternative and Metal scenes throughout 2007, which opened the door to sharing the stage with such acts as the longstanding South African Industrial act Battery9, the very impressive Wintersoul and international German Synthpop outfit Psyche. Another accolade achieved by this particular ANKST lineup was the inclusion of the song “Better Than Me” on German Gothic compilation “Smoke and Spotlight Vol.2”.

The bands lineup changed in the first half of 2008 when Dylan Van Collar and Noel Hall left the band and were replaced by classically trained pianist Dave Van Tonder on keyboards and Punk/Alternative ex-Clone guitarist Malcolm Silver on bass guitar.

ANKST hit hard in 2008/09 touring South Africa regularly fronting such international acts as Carcass, Sheep on Drugs and VNV Nation. Mid 2008 saw the release of the very first full length, 10 track CD entitled “Monument” of which the very first shipment sold out quickly even with out outside distribution. The band also produced their first music video for “The Wicked”. ANKST was also included on the official “A Tribute to Garden of Delight” with their rendition of “Immortality”. Other compilations include the epic “Gothic Sounds of Nightbreed Vol.5” and soon to be released “Fused in Darkness”. The band also had the honor of being one of many bands to receive a mention in Mick Mercer’s book “Music to Die For”.

At the end of 2009, Aiden Botha (Guitar) sadly parted with ANKST to pursue his true love, that of Black Metal, in the form of his own band which he managed to tirelessly maintain whist still remaining dedicated to ANKST. As one of the founding members of ANKST, Aiden will be missed and forever respected.

2010 ANKST welcomes Johan Prinsloo and continues to march toward a dystopian future…
