The 15th annual final of the Emerging Sounds Challenge taking place on Saturday 3 December at Rockabillies in Edenvale looks set to be the most exciting final in the events history.
The standard of the bands at this year’s final is one which makes this event one of the most exciting finals and one of the toughest to judge.
This year also has the biggest prizes on offer with the winning band playing themselves to over a R100 000 worth of prizes. In fact the band that wins this year’s event will be set up to really further their musical career.
The Emerging Sounds Challenge has always been about creating platforms for bands to further their musical careers and this year’s event is taking this concept to another level.
Thanks to Music Mate and Audiosure for sponsoring some of the awesome prizes on offer. The winning band plays themselves to some awesome musical gear courtesy of Music Mate (including a Pearl Drum Kit and boss pedals) along with a Wharfedale Pro Rig PA system (the PA system alone is worth R68 000) from Audiosure. Bands also get to record at Get Phat Studios in Fourways with Steve Grenfell (Jesse Clegg’s engineer) and they have an EPK filmed courtesy of Orange Orbit in Randburg. The winning band will also have a session with music guru Dave Chislett on planning their musical career in 2012 and they will also receive publishing advice from M2 Music.
The band winning this year’s final is setting themself up to really crack it in the SA music industry.
There is also a diverse range of musical styles on offer covering a wide range of musical styles in English and Afrikaans.
Those attending will hear a mixture of rock, acoustic, electric instrumental, punk, rockabilly and fusion funk jazz.
