The Music of Leonard Cohen

What I learned, deduced or surmised from recently listening to the music of Leonard Cohen. (by Sheerluck Poems, the musical detective.)


1. Leonard Cohen is probably a Canadian of French extraction, raised as a Catholic, yet with a Jewish name. He attended French music social events in Canada featuring the French Accordion instrument as a child and later became a published poet. He played guitar from about the age of 12, mostly folk music (Spanish guitar - nylon strings with emphasis on picking). He later moved to New York.

RAMfest 2014

The annual Ramfest festival is set to be played out at Elandskloof Farm in Helderstroom near Cape Town from Thursday, 6 March to Sunday, 9 March 2014.

The four-day festival is hosting metal groups Killswitch Engage and Trivium from the U.S. of A., as well as U.K. acts Biffy Clyro, VuvuVultures and Foals, who will be playing on the main (Red Heart Rum) stage.

Rock to the likes of Gangs of Ballet, aKING, and ISO, while DJ's like Camo and Krooked featuring Dynamite MC will also perform.
