Plug And Play 3 Thursday nights @ Full Moon

[ Read Article ]
The Plug & Play initiative got started in 2008 at Café Arc, but really it's something bands have been doing for ages in venues the world over. We had a such a success at Zeplins wonderboom in 2009 that we decided that it is time for Plug & Play 2010 to take place at Full Moon Lounge, Hazelwood.
Essentially it is an Open Mic Night with a face lift, and RockingSA is reviving the vibe of the Open Mic Nights that used to happen at the erstwhile Nile Crocodile. Pretoria does not have a venue... read more?

Master of Rock Review - Cape Town

[ Read Article ]
It's not often we have big names performing in South Africa, and even more seldom we have big names worth listening to. Imagine my delight when the rumours of a Deep Purple performance started doing the rounds! Despite the pricey tickets, I figured no price would be too high for the privilege of a live performance from one of my all-time favourites.

So off we went to Grand West's Arena. The show started with Wishbone Ash giving an excellent performance. Their sounds was rich... read more?

Tanz Café - Jozi All Stars - 25.02.10

[ Read Article ]
Tanz Café.. a Bryanstonian version of the Langoustines Restaurant in Durban.
The typically hated genre of music disciplines…. Dinner Theatre.
But wow, even for a partially filled venue, it was so damn cosy and interestingly enough….warm and friendly.
I certainly expected a more Chic atmosphere with a bunch of Snobs and overly critical rich folk and found a totally different feel
As before I was astounded at the transformation of this great band as either the practice or exposure... read more?

Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendour

[ Read Article ]
This particular album gave me a lot to think about. Not because I found the music to be particularly thought provoking but because every review I read had such exaltations of awe and majesty. I thought to myself (a second time), “You’re too excited – listen again without so much forceful intent.” And nope, still not feeling this. I’m not this is a god awful... read more?
