Big Concerts present the Masters of Rock Tour featuring Deep Purple with Uriah Heep and Wishbone Ash at the Coca-Cola Dome Johannesburg on Friday 28th May 2010, ICC Durban Arena on Sunday 30th May 2010 and Tuesday 1st June at the Grand Arena, Grandwest and Entertainment World, Cape Town.
At the turn of the `70s, a holy trinity of British heavy rock groups-Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple-made music that shook the world. Forty years on, Deep Purple are the last men standing (Mojo Magazine).
Since forming in 1968, Deep Purple have produced some rock`s most defining moments. The explosive power of Purple`s music, as evidenced on the classic “In Rock” , “Fireball”, “Machine Head” and “Made in Japan” albums made them one of the biggest acts in the world .More recently the band`s “Rapture of the deep”, and live tour-de-force “Montreux 2006” ,further underscores their reputation as pioneers of adventurous modern-classic rock music.
Deep Purple 2010 features three members of the definitive and legendary MK2 lineup: vocalist Ian Gillan; bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice plus long time guitarist Steve Morse (rated in the Top 100 Guitarists Poll) and keyboardist Don Airey. Intense, fearless, full of fire, and wit, and passion. Marked by serious virtuosity, but never a slave to it. Still finding new meaning in a medium they all but single-handedly created. The epic Deep Purple saga rolls.

Uriah Heep's by-the-books progressive rock made the British band one of the most popular hard rock groups of the early '70s, a legacy that they continue to enjoy to the present day Formed by vocalist David Byron and guitarist Mick Box in the late '60s, the group went through an astonishing number of members over the next three decades — nearly 30 different musicians passed through the band over the years. Uriah Heep released their debut album Very “Eavy,..Very `Umble” in 1970 and followed this with a string of critically acclaimed records including “Look at yourself”, “The Magician`s Birthday”, “Salisbury” and “Demons and Wizards”. The core of the current lineup ,including founder member Mick Box, have been together since 1986 and bring to the concert stage a set list that includes classic rock songs like “Gypsy” ,”July Morning” , “Easy living” , “Free me” and “Lady in black”.
